Intervention and Cultural Context: Mediation in the US and Norway

Lewis & Clark College

Polarizations and conflicts typical of teams in the US and Norway are discussed via a series of cases. It is argued that prescriptions for intervention that ignore culturally-influenced patterns of group dynamics are unlikely to transfer across cultures. A model of intervention, based on observed patterns of interaction, is proposed.
